Desiree Jacob

Prior to qualifying as a CPA and becoming a lawyer, Ms. Jacob served as a Senior Analyst with the Cayman Islands Monetary Authority in the Investments and Securities Division and was instrumental in creating and implementing the on-site inspection programme.

Ms. Jacob’s experience also includes over 10 years in fund administration and accounting. Her last role was with a leading fund administrator in 2008 where she served as a Deputy Head of Fund of Funds for MUFG (formerly UBS).

Ms. Jacob qualified into the structured finance division of Appleby, the international law firm, focusing on CLOs, bond issuances, securitisations and subscription financing. She later practised as an attorney with another leading international law firm, Ogier, in the funds division where her focus was on fund and private equity launches and providing ongoing general and corporate legal advice for her clients.

She then acted as Vice President for a publicly listed leader in trust and corporate administration, Intertrust. There, Ms. Jacob led a team of upwards of 10 administrators who maintained, managed and serviced over 2700 entities in the private equity space, across Europe, the Middle East, Africa, Asia (EMEA) and Latin America. While Vice President, she also served as a personal director and signatory for the corporate director as well.

Ms Jacob then established her own legal practice, Jacob Law, before joining Spencer West.

Ms. Jacob has over 20 years of combined experience in law, corporate management, fund administration/accounting and regulation.

Ms. Jacob has been a member of the Special Needs Foundation Cayman Islands since 2016, a member of 100 Women in Finance since 2012 and the Cayman Islands Law Society since 2011.
