Juliana Barbedo Carvalho is a multidisciplinary attorney with more than 15 years’ experience in intellectual property, telecoms, media, technology including information technology, entertainment law, data protection, corporate, commercial and competition law. With a vast background in multicultural environments, Juliana is admitted to practise law in Spain (as a registered European lawyer), Brazil and Portugal. Holding a Master of Laws (LL.M) degree from the New York University School of Law, Class of 2011, she is now pursuing a Ph.D. candidacy at Universidad Complutense de Madrid.

Having worked as an in-house lawyer at Globo, a major media group in Latin America, and as a partner at a boutique law firm in Brazil for several years, Juliana has gained wide-ranging experience in litigation and transactional legal work in high profile cases and strategic business projects. Specifically, she has defended clients in courts in issues related to intellectual property, assisted top media and telecom companies in content production, licensing, advertising, and service agreements. Additionally, she has advised clients in relation to key international sports and cultural events, negotiating and drafting their contracts. Also, she has counselled businesses in corporate, regulatory, and policy issues concerning telecoms, media and technology. Furthermore, Juliana has represented clients in complex competition matters and managed relevant merger filings for a leading media group in Latin America.

Juliana has developed her legal practice in Spain providing legal consultancy in cross-border transactions relating to intellectual property, technology, corporate, commercial, and regulatory law for clients in different jurisdictions.

Juliana is a member of ABPI - Brazilian Association of Intellectual Property, the national group of AIPPI - the International Association for the Protection of Intellectual Property, and lectures in law at EAE Business School.
