Stephen Chinnery

Stephen is a Private Prosecutor and Asset Recovery lawyer with a wide range of experience in both the criminal and civil courts. Qualifying as an English solicitor in 2002 Stephen was granted Higher Rights of Audience as a Solicitor-Advocate in 2015.

Stephen currently leads a team of criminal and civil lawyers to prosecute fraud offences and recover assets in circumstances where the state fails to act.

Able to draw from a diverse background of defending prosecutions by the Serious Fraud Office, HM Revenue & Customs and other agencies, litigating insolvency cases in the County and High Courts, defending director disqualification proceedings brought by the Insolvency Service, Stephen and his team work with experienced Counsel and investigators to offer outcomes that are increasingly unavailable to organisations and individuals in a new world of cyber crime, easily facilitated cross-border transactions and a lower priority given over to fraud and its effects by the UK State.

Stephen formerly led the London office of a US-UK law firm.

Stephen sits on the advisory committee of Seven Stars Legal, a litigation funding company focused on the mass claims markets.
