As a partner and attorney in AM100 and AM200 law firms, James has gained experience in securities offerings, private equity, sovereign wealth funds, government contracts, the defense industry, international transactions, project finance deals, joint ventures and formation and regulatory compliance of investment funds, including specialty investment companies such as SBICs and BDCs.
James has been involved in numerous international finance transactions and has counseled clients in the structure and terms of their relationship with private and government parties involved in project development in foreign markets such as Africa, China, Europe, Latin America and other emerging markets. James has been involved in the privatisation of the oil industry for a sovereign government, the formation and structuring of a broker dealer and RIA for a Fortune 100 company and in representing the sovereign wealth funds for multiple MENA based countries.
James has served as a director, general counsel and chief outside counsel for companies including a national real estate private equity fund as well as a biotech company and its affiliates. In those roles he advises company executives and staff on contracts, securities laws, compliance risks, global joint ventures, strategic partnerships deals and mergers and acquisitions. He also stays informed of the potential legislative changes that may impact such companies and industries.
