Ed Plunkett is a highly experienced adviser supporting principals, families and family offices with strategic oversight, operational leadership and the management of complex estates and private assets.
Ed brings a rare blend of military leadership, international private service and family office experience. His work is characterised by calm authority, discretion and an ability to operate effectively at the intersection of people, assets and long‑term objectives. Principals value his naturally personable style, sound judgement and capacity to build enduring trust.
Ed began his career as a commissioned officer in the British Army, serving in Iraq and Afghanistan. Operating in high‑pressure environments shaped his leadership style and instilled discipline, adaptability and clarity of decision‑making—attributes that continue to underpin his work in private offices and complex family structures.
Following military service, Ed moved into international private service, managing significant European estates for a senior Arab Head of State. This role required logistical command, cultural fluency and sensitivity to diplomatic and defence‑related matters, working across jurisdictions and alongside government and private counterparts. Fluent in French and widely travelled, Ed developed deep experience handling discreet, cross‑border and politically sensitive affairs.
Ed has since held senior roles within leading Arab family offices and ran the Private Office of a member of the House of Lords, navigating estate portfolios, operational structures and complex family dynamics. His experience across both public and private sectors enables him to design systems that balance legacy, efficiency and long‑term value.
As a Consultant to the Spencer West Private Office, Ed works alongside legal and professional advisers to support clients with private office structuring, estate oversight and strategic coordination, operating quietly behind the scenes to ensure continuity, discretion and resilience.
