We are delighted that Employment Law Partner Anne Mannix has been quoted in the Financial Times in an article about whistleblowers who seek redress.

The article focuses on the case of Alison McDermott, who is taking Sellafield, a British nuclear waste site, and its owner, the Nuclear Decommissioning Authority, to an industrial tribunal, after Sellafield terminated her consultancy contract to suppress a report she wrote that was critical of the plant’s HR leadership and its handling of staff complaints about bullying and harassment. It also looks at various other whistleblowers who have had similar negative experiences.

Discussing legal tactics used by employers to scare whistleblowers around costs, Anne says “Claimants see a large figure in correspondence representing the costs they might end up paying and think they may lose their house.”
