Dominique’s approach is driven by a commitment to communicate key points as clearly and understandably as possible. To achieve this, she believes it’s essential to first consider the client’s area of work before providing any substantial legal advice. Recognising that every situation is unique, Dominique is mindful that a client’s individual circumstances are often crucial to determining the right course of action.
This is particularly important in the sensitive area of tax law, where advice must be considered from a long-term perspective. In certain cases, a solution that works today could lead to complications in the future if all relevant facts are not carefully considered. Given the potential severity of such outcomes, Dominique prioritises developing a broad understanding of the client’s interests and gathering all pertinent information — something she achieves by asking the right questions.
Based on this solid foundation, Dominique provides clients with different approaches, clearly outlining the consequences of each possible solution. She considers this the most important step in offering clients a complete picture, enabling them to make well-informed, responsible decisions tailored to their individual situations.
Prior to joining Spencer West, Dominique worked as a self-employed lawyer for the German law firm Dr. Stoll & Sauer, focusing primarily on civil court proceedings, with a particular emphasis on appeal procedures. Before this, she served as an official in the German Tax Administration, specialising in tax criminal law and international law. In this role, she was responsible for handling tax criminal cases and representing the tax authority in disputes before the Tax Court. Earlier in her career, Dominique also worked as a self-employed insurance agent, specialising in private health insurance.
Between these roles, Dominique studied law at the University of Göttingen, successfully completing both state legal examinations qualifying her to practise as a lawyer in Germany.
