Edmund Probert
Partner – Commercial Law, IT Contracts & Intellectual Property
Edmund trained with what is now Jones Day, in London. He then moved to a predecessor firm of Foot Anstey LLP and, latterly, led the IP & IT Team. Edmund works mainly in the technology and IP areas. His recent work has included work on significant outsourcing contracts, patent licensing, SaaS and distribution. His previous corporate experience means he can provide a broad spectrum of guidance to technology companies. His experience includes designing software and founding an IT industry pressure group.
"Ed is extremely pro-active. He will make suggestions based on his wide experience and add his perspective, which is always spot on. One thing that always amazes me is Ed’s remarkable ability to ‘get it.’ He really does get it; he understands what makes the business tick and also what all the individuals involved want to get out of the business. This insight means that he approaches our contractual work in a way that is always completely in line with what we would want."
Mark Roberts, MD, Ashwoods Lightfoot.
"Most of Ed’s work for us over the last twelve years has been on overseas distribution agreements, licensing agreements and asset sales. As a global technology business, the issues we face can be highly complex, but Ed has a gift for cutting to the chase. This simplifies everything and helps bring us clarity and vision, really helping keep the business moving forward."

My interest in technology started at an early age and I was tempted to study engineering rather than law. As a result I love the fact that the IT and Tech that I work with changes and develops so fast.
