Keri Castillo

Private Client law is incredibly personal. Whether I’m helping someone plan for their family’s future or guiding them through a complex estate after losing someone, my approach is always the same: clear advice, no unnecessary jargon and a genuinely personal service. I’m particularly passionate about complex and cross-border estates, bringing together advisers across different jurisdictions to make what can feel like an overwhelming process as straightforward as possible.
Keri Castillo Spencer West Partner

Keri is a Private Client solicitor specialising in probate and estate administration, Wills, estate planning, trusts, Lasting Powers of Attorney and inheritance tax matters. She has particular experience in complex and cross-border estates, including matters involving assets and beneficiaries in Australia, Italy, Spain, France, the United States and Japan.

Keri advises individuals, families, executors and beneficiaries on a wide range of Private Client matters, from straightforward Grants of Probate and Wills to more complex estate administrations involving property, trusts, lifetime gifts, inheritance tax considerations and unusual Will provisions. She also advises on post-death planning, including Deeds of Variation and the restructuring of inheritances.

A growing focus of Keri’s practice is cross-border probate and international estate administration. She advises on the English law aspects of estates with international connections and works closely with lawyers and other professional advisers overseas where local expertise is required. She understands the additional practical complexities that can arise when an estate spans multiple jurisdictions and takes a collaborative approach to progressing matters efficiently.

Alongside probate, Keri advises clients on lifetime estate and succession planning, including straightforward and complex Wills, inheritance tax planning, trusts and Lasting Powers of Attorney. She has experience advising clients with blended families, property and investment interests and more complex family circumstances.

Keri has worked within Private Client law throughout her legal career, progressing from paralegal and trainee roles through qualification as a solicitor and into senior leadership within a Private Client department before joining Spencer West.

Her approach is personal, practical and straightforward. Keri recognises that Private Client matters often arise at important or difficult points in a client’s life and focuses on providing clear, pragmatic advice without unnecessary legal jargon. Her aim is to make complex matters easier to understand while ensuring clients feel informed and supported throughout.
