Ruth Renton

Over 20 years and I still love all aspects of employment law – yes, even TUPE - and helping my clients make a positive difference to their workplaces! I believe in a diverse, equal workforce where every individual is recognised and valued. I strive to do my best for each of my clients.

Described as “a breath of fresh air”, Ruth is a highly regarded, experienced,  commercial employment lawyer, trainer and author with over 25 years’ experience in employment law gained from top city law firms including Allen & Overy LLP and Eversheds LLP.

Ruth’s client portfolio covers a wide spectrum both within the UK and globally. Sectors include: Technology; Energy (including gas, electricity and renewable energy); Education (Schools and Universities); Hospitality; Recruitment and  Charities/non-profit sector.

Ruth complements her Employment Law practice with her interactive Employment Law/HR training practice which provides bespoke in-house training seminars/webinars to organisations.  Popular training includes Equality, Harassment and Diversity Training; Introduction to Employment Law for Managers and Employment Law Updates.

Ruth is a regular speaker at external conferences and is also a Visiting Lecturer at The University of Law, teaching on the LLB, LPC & SQE courses. Ruth is the content author and presenter for Inmarkets International equality/diversity on-line training seminars.

Ruth also continues to undertake Workplace Grievance/Disciplinary Investigations and Conduct Grievance and Disciplinary Hearings/Appeal Hearings through her separate HR Consultancy business.

Outside of work, Ruth is passionate about volunteering and using her expertise to give back to the wider community.  Ruth has been a volunteer and adviser on carer/pregnancy/family friendly advicelines and websites, including Maternity Alliance, WorkingMums, MamaTV and Working Families.   Ruth has also been a governor for several years, including Chair of Governors of a 2,000 pupil State secondary school, successfully taking the school out of Ofsted measures.  Finally, Ruth is a trustee and fundraiser of several charities.
