Sarah Talbot Capes

Advising private clients alongside legal and professional teams on art collections management, governance and long-term planning.

Sarah Talbot Capes is a specialist adviser to private collectors, families, museums, institutions and corporate collections on collections management and long-term stewardship.

She works closely with clients to ensure that artworks and collections are professionally cared for, meticulously documented and safeguarded for future generations. Her approach combines academic rigour with hands-on collections management expertise, enabling clients to preserve and enhance both the cultural and financial value of their collections with discretion and confidence.

Sarah and her team deliver tailored support across the full lifecycle of a collection, including cataloguing and digitisation, auditing and inventorying, conservation strategy, storage and logistics, loans, valuations, and estate and legacy planning.

With formal training in art history and curatorial studies, Sarah has worked across museums, in conservation and at several leading Mayfair galleries. Her experience spans a wide range of material, including antiques, Old Master paintings, and modern and contemporary works. She is recognised for her calm, detail-driven and highly discreet approach, as well as her ability to coordinate trusted specialists across conservation, logistics, insurance and wider advisory services.

As a Consultant to the Spencer West Private Office, Sarah works alongside legal, tax and fiduciary teams to advise private clients on art governance, collections management and strategic planning, particularly where collections intersect with estate structuring, succession and long-term family legacy.
