Stuart Casey Spencer West Partner

Stuart Casey has more than two decades of experience and expertise both in private practice and within senior in-house positions across all areas of intellectual property, commercial strategy and complex dispute resolution.

In addition to having trained and practiced at recognised market-leading international law firms, Stuart has a background of General Counsel roles in leadership teams at global organisations including The Kraft Heinz Company and Kimberly-Clark, leadership roles in Diageo, as well as in emerging Biotech. Stuart has supported innovation, marketing, supply, procurement and sales teams in heavily regulated industries across EMEA and Asia Pacific, including in many challenging jurisdictions, bringing a flexible, culturally attuned style alongside pragmatic, risk-balanced decision making.

Equally comfortable in the boardroom or on the factory floor, Stuart blends transactional fluency – including complex commercial deals – with extensive litigation and dispute resolution experience. Stuart has managed very large, multi-jurisdictional portfolios of litigation, including patent, trade mark and copyright disputes. Stuart is trusted for his clear, risk-based counsel under pressure. Clients and colleagues consistently cite his ability to simplify the complex, to frame decisions in commercial terms, and to provide decisive direction. He is known for his creative, science-literate problem solving approach, and for finding pathways through novel technologies and business models while safeguarding long term shareholder value.

Above all, Stuart is a growth partner: a pragmatic, approachable counsel who manages complexity, calibrates risk and reward, and helps teams turn innovative ideas into protected, sustainable, scalable outcomes.
