Susan Paul runs a niche legal practice focusing on the resolution of employment, partnership and organisational disputes within the NHS. She specialises in supporting NHS managers and leaders across all aspects of employment law, dispute resolution, and strategic management in NHS primary and secondary care organisations, GP partnerships and other healthcare organisations.
Having previously been an active litigator and served as an Employment Judge, she now leverages her expertise in employment law, dispute resolution and NHS business management and leadership skills to support the development of effective NHS teams.
She is committed to facilitating the creation of peaceful working environments within the NHS, and is particularly interested in supporting NHS Managers and GP partners to resolve dysfunctional relationships and disputes in a constructive and impactful way.
Susan is the Chief Executive of the First 4 Health Group, a London-based GP ‘Super Partnership’ that has grown over the past 23 years into its current ecosystem of 150+ healthcare professionals and support staff.
She is a solutions-focused NHS entrepreneur with a passion for coaching and supporting both mainstream NHS Managers and healthtech entrepreneurs to ‘think outside the box’. The journey to success has not been an easy one and this gives her valuable insight into what it takes to be a leader in the NHS and how to develop effective teams.
She is passionate about creating a dynamic, forward thinking and sustainable NHS that actively collaborates and engages with its staff and local community.
In 2024, Susan was recognised by the University of East London for her contribution to the fields of Health, Business and Law over the past 35 years. She is now an Honorary Law and Health Fellow of the University of East London, supporting the university leadership to make a difference in these fields.
She has also been a ‘Leader in Residence’ for the University of Leeds Business School for over 10 years, supporting students to develop effective business skills. In 2016 she received the Vice Chancellors Leadership Award for her contribution to the advancement of Leadership within the University. In 2024 she received the “Leader in Residence of the year” award for her work with the Business School.
