Alexia Solomou speaks at Women4Cyber Cyprus event
Spencer West Cyprus Partner, Alexia Solomou, recently spoke at the Women4Cyber Cyprus & DiGiNN Cyprus event on the “Digital Era and Artificial Intelligence: Equipping the Society and the Economy from Potential Dangers”, which was held on 11 November 2025 at the Office of the Commissioner of Communications of Cyprus.
Alexia took part in a panel discussion alongside Ms. Savia Orphanidou, Member of Parliament of Cyprus and Dr. Styliani Kleanthous Loizou, Assistant Professor at the Open University of Cyprus, tackling a crucial issue: how can we equip the Cypriot society and economy from potential dangers during the digital era and the rapid development of artificial intelligence?
Alexia’s take on the issue was a practical one – she presented the pitfalls from a legal perspective and offered solutions on how we can remedy the current gaps and dangers posed. The panel discussion was moderated by Ms. Panayiota T. Smyrli, Cybersecurity Engineer at the Digital Security Authority of Cyprus, which brought together politics, law and academia. Such interdisciplinary debates become the basis of future solutions and innovation.
The event was co-organised by Women4Cyber Cyprus and the Digital Innovation Hub Cyprus (DiGiNN), and it was supported by the Directorate-General for Communications Networks, Content and Technology (DG CNECT), Deputy Director, Ms. Despina Spanou, who delivered the opening keynote speech.
