Spencer West adds Mauritius office to growing African presence
International law firm Spencer West has announced the launch of a new office in Mauritius, expanding the firm’s international reach and strengthening cross jurisdictional capabilities.
The office is led by Founding Partner Antish Maroam, a barrister called to the Bar of England and Wales and Mauritius and a Fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA). Antish advises on corporate, tax, and private wealth matters, with a strong focus on tax structuring for international clients.
Mauritius continues to attract international businesses and investors due to strong connections with African markets, an extensive double tax treaty network, and a robust legal framework for funds and estate planning.
Antish said the move to Spencer West created a flexible and collaborative environment to serve his clients and take on new opportunities.
“Mauritius has a clear gap for a model that allows lawyers to build their own practices while remaining part of an international firm. Spencer West strongly appeals to the next generation of legal talent.”
“The entrepreneurial mindset, the flexibility, and the drive for growth strongly align with my own ambitions, and encourage us to grow our team.”
Spencer West global Managing Partner Antoine West said Mauritius complements the firm’s growing international capability.
“We are thrilled to welcome Antish and his hugely capable team to the Spencer West community. This is a terrific development for our firm, and improves our coverage in the region.”
“Our Mauritius office will work alongside our Kenya, South Africa, and Rwanda offices, together with our offices worldwide, to deliver strong outcomes for clients.”
