Partner Amrit Johal alongside barrister Marc Glover, and supported by Maleeha Khan and Claudia Pomponi, represented prominent Saudi Arabian businessman and the founder, chairman and CEO of the MBI Group Sheikh Mohamed Bin Issa Al Jaber in a significant three-day appeal hearing before the UK Supreme Court.

The matter involves complex cross-border issues arising from the liquidation of MBI International & Partners Inc. and surrounds whether a transfer of shares after a winding-up order was made against the company gave rise to a breach of fiduciary duties.

Amrit Johal commented on the matter:

“The Sheikh’s appeal before The Supreme Court has been recognised in The Lawyer’s Top 10 Appeals of 2025. The case has significant implications for the interpretation of directors’ fiduciary duties during corporate liquidation and the scope of remedies for breach. We now await the Supreme Court’s landmark decision.

“We are grateful for the Sheikh’s trust to drive forward this appeal and represent him in this crucial stage.”

The matter followed the team’s successful representation of a Saudi Royal in a $1.2 billion insolvency dispute before the High Court and Court of Appeal in early 2025.
