Spencer West advises PropTech Micad on strategic investment from K1
Spencer West has advised the management team of Micad, a leading UK provider of cloud-based property management software, on the strategic investment by US-based private equity investor K1 Investment Management.
The transaction introduces a new chapter of growth for the business under K1’s combined ownership with management. The Spencer West team was led by corporate private equity partner James Klein, with the support of corporate colleagues Robert Gibber and Thomas Allen, tax partner Mark Tan and employment partner Jasmin Dhillon, advising the Micad management team on all aspects of the transaction.
K1’s investment brings together two complementary platforms – Micad and Poland-headquartered Singu – to create a European leader in property and facilities management software. The combined group serves over 100,000 buildings across 35 countries, offering cloud-based solutions that support asset management, maintenance, compliance, sustainability reporting, and AI-driven property intelligence.
James Klein said the deal ushered in a new era for property management innovation.
“We are proud to have supported the Micad management team on this significant milestone that strengthens the depth and breadth of their offering and will supercharge them into the future,” Klein said.
“The transaction demonstrates the strength of UK tech companies in attracting global investment and marks an exciting new phase for Micad as it scales with the backing of a world-class investor in K1.”
Managing Director of Micad Peter Harris said the complex transaction benefitted from the firm’s experienced and business-minded approach.
“James and team provided exceptional support throughout the process. Their commercial approach and experience advising on complex management equity matters were invaluable in securing a successful outcome for our team,” Harris said.
“We’re excited to join forces with Singu and look forward to building a market-leading platform with K1’s backing.”
